Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) in particular, are processed with conventional equipment for thermoplastics, i.e., unlike rubber, which is a thermosetting elastomer, the desired properties of the finished product are achieved without vulcanization. Moreover, TPU offers higher mechanical properties than rubber.
